D.S.DUNDEE HISTORY Oliver Pilcher & Jim Pickles started D.S.DUNDEE (DSD) in Scotland in 1994. Early styles were streetwear based - denim and casual - but with UK sourced fabrics and manufacturing as the core philosophy. After a hiatus of a few years, the brand was relaunched in 2008 with a rugged, durable yet refined contemporary wardrobe – tailored and more formalwear alongside by a strong portfolio of outerwear, shirting, knitwear, jersey, footwear and accessories to complete the look. With one foot firmly planted in UK heritage & provenance and the other in clean, contemporary branding with a nod to streetwear DSD has evolved rapidly and is fast becoming the sought after designer British brand. The brand is based in East London with the flagship store at 18 Lamb St, Spitalfields.
D.S.DUNDEE MISSION As a UK brand with a strong Scottish & English heritage DSD wants to showcase the strength of UK fabrics and UK manufacturers, but without being staid and stuffy. The hallmark use of tweeds, tartans, wools and sheepskin, military cottons and raw denims recall British textile history while creating an emotional response to the wearer. The DSD design ethos is to honor traditional materials by carefully cutting them into unique, durable styles. Although influenced and inspired by the UK’s strong streetwear history and aristocratic “country gent” clothiers, DSD forges new fashion territories. DSD endeavour to design, source fabrics, produce and manufacture using UK talent and suppliers, not only supporting UK infrastructure but also utilising their strengths throughout the collection.
THE D.S.DUNDEE CUSTOMER Once he discovers a brand he is fiercely loyal but as he doesn’t buy cutting edge fashion he doesn’t jettison his wardrobe every season so whatever he buys has to stand out both in its provenance and design. He loves the idea of an essentially British brand with a Scottish heritage like DSD, particularly the tweed as it’s so utilitarian and can be dressed up or down. He also wants consistency in the styles he likes and these must be available to him across the seasons as he is a busy man and wants to be able shop in the confidence that D.S.DUNDEE deliver the part of his wardrobe he expects them to and is not forgiving if they do not. |
